Improved communications is responsible for many of the things we take for granted every day. Fast communication means that business can be conducted with greater efficiency and a reduced cost. Developing better communications was no easy task; even the most basic of phone lines can require an enormous amount of infrastructure and materials. Creating communications networks in areas with challenging terrain or areas of low population has always been an obstacle for the pioneers of the telecommunications industry. With the advent of wireless networks, such as satellite and cell phone towers, a whole new era in telecommunications history has been unleashed. These technologies have allowed people to communicate with one another from anywhere on the globe with the use of a satellite or cell phone. Wireless internet has allowed countries to develop economies and attract more investors from all over the world. Companies can also cut costs by having independent workers all over the world.

The beginning of telecommunications

Over the years, telecommunications have been developed at different rates all over the world. There are still countries where networks are just being created. Cell phones have not achieved global penetration, and are not always accessible to common people. The M1 Group was formed by Najib Mikati and his brother Taha, following their success with Investcom, the pioneering telecommunications firms based in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean. They saw a need for better communication networks for citizens and businesses; isolation was holding economies back from the growth they deserved. From the 1970s to the present, they have been working hard to develop an enviable telecommunications network that serves hundreds of millions of people and businesses. The M1 Group is a holding company created for investing the telecommunications wealth into other sectors, and to offer investment opportunities to those all over the world. Azmi Mikati also founded T-One Communications, which provides international phone services between the United States and much of the world. Mr. Mikati, chief executive officer of M1 Group, is the son of Taha Mikati.

Modern communications networks

The first communication networks were mostly for basic phone and television services; this has changed drastically over the years. Now, many people want a cell phone and high-speed internet as well. Network demands are higher than ever, which means those that invest in expanding networks are likely making a good investment choice. Many offices now keep all their records and conduct most of their business online, which means fast internet connection speeds are demanded. Better internet access, phone services, and television have been essential to the modernization of emerging economies. Without these services, these economies would be crippled.

The future

Demand for networks to keep up with the latest in technology will help create jobs and encourage communications companies to look for more innovative solutions that will help provide better internet access, phone service, and entertainment to more people than ever before. Wireless networks will be more common and reduce the cost of expanding high-speed networks to some of the most remote places in the world. Increases in innovation will make it possible for any business to ply their trade in a variety of international markets. At some point, demand might plateau; however, there will always be room for improvement.
