Nameservers are specialized servers on the internet that handle queries regarding the location of a domain name’s various services, such as its website and email. They are an essential part of the Domain Name System (DNS), which is used to translate human-friendly domain names (like www.example.com) into IP addresses that computers use to identify each other on the network.

When you register a domain name, it needs to be associated with at least two nameservers, which are usually provided by the hosting company or domain registrar. These nameservers are responsible for holding and managing the DNS records for the domain, such as:

• A Record (Address Record): Links a domain to the physical IP address of a computer hosting that domain’s services.
• MX Record (Mail Exchange Record): Directs email to a mail server.
• CNAME Record (Canonical Name Record): Can alias one name to another.

When someone tries to access your domain, their computer asks the nameserver for the IP address associated with that domain. The nameserver responds with the necessary information, allowing the user’s computer to connect to the correct server. This process is part of what makes the internet user-friendly and efficient.
